But living in the countryside and working from home really changed that. Now exercise is also part of my social outlet, which is great. I've always thought about a sprint triathalon, but I'm such a bad swimmer, I don't think I could do it. Well done!Brenda St John Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01995664320021950254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020653850161663700.post-64171659344597924672016-02-23T07:55:50.146-05:002016-02-23T07:55:50.146-05:00It's true! It helps massively on both fronts.Brenda St John Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01995664320021950254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020653850161663700.post-14744942605387019272016-02-22T19:36:05.889-05:002016-02-22T19:36:05.889-05:00Great post! I did a sprint triathlon back in 2001 - and like you said, if I hadn't signed up with friends and then trained with them I never would have done it! My next goal is to try a half-marathon some day. It's interesting because I've always been kind of a 'go it alone' kind of gal. This past year has taught me that I can't do that if I want anything to be sustainable (both in my health and fitness journey and in my writing). Glad that we are part of each other's support system! Can't be writing word-splosions every day either.Mary Fanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11280462566854191985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020653850161663700.post-66169095305132065012016-02-22T16:36:00.887-05:002016-02-22T16:36:00.887-05:00It's a half-marathon, but it still feels awful...It's a half-marathon, but it still feels awfully far from where I'm sitting (on the couch, drinking wine, specifically.). Ha. But, it's like writing a book -- happens one step at a time. But, yes, it's easy to feel like you're not a "real" writer, just like it's easy to feel like you're not a "real" runner -- b/c you don't get in epic word counts, publish multiple books per year, run seven-minute miles eight times/week. But I've learned a lot this past year about finding my own pace and sticking with it.<br />Brenda St John Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01995664320021950254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020653850161663700.post-71282779847706756152016-02-22T12:40:44.684-05:002016-02-22T12:40:44.684-05:00Writing and running can be such isolating activiti...Writing and running can be such isolating activities - it's no wonder people give up on both. If you don't have a group of other writers to cheer you on and help hold you accountable, then it's really hard to stay productive or to feel like a true member of the writing community. It's so much easier when you don't feel so alone. And good luck on the marathon! Jonathan Schrammhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13790604374800284914noreply@blogger.com
